The Simply Bountiful Blessings blog was born out of the desire to be a true contributing member of society. As a child, I always thought of hunting, fishing, gardening, and figuring out how to do things for myself, now called, “DIY” were all just hobbies. I thought that choosing a ‘profession’ within the realm of ‘public service’ would ensure that I did something for the betterment of others. However, I never really felt that I was getting anywhere. What advisors and mentors sometimes fail to mention, is that public service careers generally involve trying to help others who do not even want to be helped!

Whether you’re the teacher standing in front of an apathetic group of teenagers, attempting to teach algebra or geometry, or you’re the police officer responding to a domestic violence call, only to be assaulted by the person who called for help, public service is not only difficult and thankless, if you chose such a career path to make a lasting difference in society, you will often be disappointed, to say the least. Now, this is not to dissuade these careers, nor downplay their importance. The point is, to truly make a difference, you need an audience that wants to be helped. Having an audience that wants to hear what you have to say is much more fulfilling than an audience that needs to hear what you have to say, yet doesn’t want to.

Out of this epiphany, the Simply Bountiful Blessings blog was born. I decided that to significantly contribute to the advancement of humanity, I needed an audience that wanted to better themselves. Whether you want to learn how to reduce consumption, be more self-sufficient through hunting, gardening, or DIY, be more organized, more financially responsible, or even if you want to learn a new skill or more about something you are already familiar with, this is the place for you! The fact that you have read this far is proof that you want to better yourself in some way, and thus want to be a contributing member of society too! So dive in and check it out!
